Frequently asked

QUESTIONS

  • Do you pay an advance?
No. Stella Nova Publishing assists the author through the process of writing and marketing their own book. The author pays all costs just as they would if they were self-publishing. SNP provides expert advice and assistance through every step of the journey.
  • Do I need an agent to publish with Stella Nova Publishing?
No. We are a small niche press and lend our knowledge and assistance to help you manage your own project. You remain the owner and are in control of your work with full autonomy to manage your book once it is published.
  • Do I need to send a proposal?
No proposal is necessary. Because we are a small publisher, we discuss your project with you personally to determine what your project needs and how we can help make your dream a reality. We will give clear and honest feedback as to what you can do to make your project the best it can be, from manuscript critique through the stages of the editing process, publication, and marketing. We do not guarantee sales.
  • Do you take unsolicited manuscripts?
Yes. While we reserve the right to refuse a project, we see the value in making it possible for those without stellar writing skills to have help presenting their ideas or writing in a professional way. Our editing services cover all levels of editing. Some clients prefer to have us advise and let them do the rewriting. Some prefer a ghostwriter. Some have a manuscript that is in decent shape and only need light editing and help with publishing. We do our best to accommodate where you're at on your journey to publication and fill in the gaps.
  • How does Stella Nova Publishing differ from a vanity publisher?
At Stella Nova Publishing, all costs to you the author are transparent, clear, and understandable. Think of us more as collaborators on helping you reach your goals. Although we cannot guarantee sales, we do everything we can to help you succeed. We charge for specific services and there are no hidden costs, nor do we promise anything we can't deliver. We give expert, custom advice at every stage, while vanity publishers can be quite distant and hard to communicate with and you are left with more questions than answers and a product that is not high quality. Editing services with vanity publishers are often subpar. Stella Nova Publishing teaches and mentors throughout the process.
  • What is an FAQ section?
An FAQ section can be used to quickly answer common questions about you or your business, such as “Where do you ship to?”, “What are your opening hours?” or “How can I book a service?” It’s a great way to help people navigate your site and can even boost your site’s SEO.
